Nicola Clark
Founder & Director
I’m Nicola Clark, founder of Avenir Urban, a Perth-based urban planning consultancy.
My fascination with cities began in childhood in Albany, WA, where I built mini houses for my stuffed toys out of wooden blocks and VHS tapes (showing my age!) At the turn of the century, that curiosity evolved through technology — particularly playing SimCity 2000 — which sparked my interest in how cities function and grow.

I studied urban planning at Curtin University, graduating in 2010, and went on to build extensive experience delivering planning and development outcomes across Western Australia and Victoria.
I spent two years as an Associate Director in Big 4 consulting, leading the precincts capability within the Infrastructure & Project Solutions team. There, I developed skills in writing business cases and securing government investment in precinct programs, city-shaping infrastructure, and large-scale projects — combining strategic planning with tangible outcomes.

I approach planning challenges holistically, recognising the interconnected nature of development, environment, and community needs. Known for simplifying complexity, building strong teams, and fostering meaningful stakeholder relationships, I guide projects from concept through approvals with clarity, professionalism, and a focus on real results.

At Avenir Urban, my goal is simple: to turn complex planning requirements into achievable, well-designed outcomes that benefit both clients and communities alike.
